Happy NEW Year!
“For I am about to do something NEW! See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.” Isaiah 43:19
God is going to do something NEW in 2017!! I don’t know about you, but I could totally have God do something NEW in my life. There’s just something about starting fresh and having a clean slate. Starting a new chapter, or starting a whole new book rather. I love that I am a friend of God. A God who gives me not only second, but third, fourth, and fifth chances. He’s a good, good Father and for that I’m ever grateful.
God makes a path in the wilderness. We went hiking on New Years day and our assumption was that this would be a short and easy hike. We had our 15 month old son after all. Don’t get me wrong, I’m always up for a challenge and a good outdoor work out, but with a 20+ pound man cub strapped to Jon’s back, I assumed we should stick to the “short and sweet” trail.
Turns out we misread the map and went on a 2.5+ mile hike that was rather taxing and pretty intense if I do say so myself. As hard as it was, I noticed that as long as I kept my eyes fixed ahead, the path was there, clear as day. When I looked around at my circumstances (feeling tired, hungry, thirsty, etc.), or looked down (I HATE heights), I’d get distracted and start to feel overwhelmed or just plain lost. JUST. KEEP. GOING!! One foot in front of the other. Follow the path, it’s laid out in front of you.
It reminds me of my life at times. God says, “Keep your eyes fixed on Me.” But, little ol’ fragile me sees failure, rejection, insecurity, comparison, jealousy and so much more. If only I would take the time to focus on God’s promises that are clearly laid out before me in His Word. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, Christ died for ME, I am God’s masterpiece, He loves me so much that even the very hairs on my head are numbered. Christ loves me so much that He sets out a clear path to follow, if only I would take one step at a time and focus on just that.
Cheers to starting NEW, staying focused, and just taking one step at a time!!
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
