Finley is ONE!
We celebrated our little Finley turning ONE this month. I can’t believe how fast one whole year has flown by! I always would hear mamas say how fast the time goes, but you don’t truly grasp what that means until you have a baby of your own and are watching them grow right before your eyes.
We’ve had such a sweet year with our beautiful boy. Finley’s tiny toes have been in the lavender fields all the way in Salt Lake City, Utah to the sands of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. We spent his first Easter in Georgia with Nonnie and Poppie, and we’ve stayed many nights with Grandmommie and Pop at their lake house in North Carolina, and our little firecracker spent his first Fourth of July at the beach with MiMi and Papa.
I have loved watching our boy’s sweet personality develop. He is cautious, quiet, and observant. He is always watching what’s going on and tries his best to keep up with his big brother. He is 100% a mama’s boy, loves being in the sling, and does not like it one bit when I leave his sight. We have made it one whole year of nursing, with no end in sight. Finley is eating all the foods, and always wants what mama is eating. Our angel boy is so snuggly, we’ve taken many a nap together and I live for our early morning nursing sessions in bed, that follow with us falling asleep side by side.
Finley was dedicated at our church in November, and it was so special. We had family come celebrate with us including Grandmommie and Pop, Uncle Cody, Aunt Savannah, and cousin Levi. Jonathan, Theo, and I got to pray alongside our Pastor, and it was the sweetest time. Some of the things our Pastor spoke over Finley:
– That Finley would grow up to be a giant killer and a mighty warrior for the Kingdom.
– He prayed that we would do what is best for Finley, not according to what a book says but according to what The Book says.
– That Finley would always look to the light and never to darkness. That angels would guard and protect his body, his mind, and his spirit. And that Finley would fulfill every purpose for which he was created.
We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for this little warrior.
Finley took his first steps one day before his first birthday and he was so so proud. We celebrated by having a small get together at our home with some of our family. Nonnie, Poppie, Uncle Nathan, Aunt Tiffany, and cousins Dylan, Aisleigh, + Everly drove all the way from Georgia to celebrate with us. We had food catered from Chipotle, and simple + sweet decorations. A few of my favorite decor pieces was Finley’s little hand + footprint and having his baby book out so we could look through all the sweet memories over this past year.
My mother-in-love made Finley’s birthday cake and it was SO yummy. She made a Paleo Banana Cake with Coconut Whipped Cream. (She did substitute the honey for maple syrup per my request). Finley absolutely loved his cake and couldn’t get enough! I loved watching him dig into it and take big bites, and he made sure to give a very serious look to whoever came close to it!
I am so thankful for a healthy, wonderful first year with our little Fin Fin! I can’t wait to make more memories with our boys over this next year!
