A TREE IS KNOWN BY IT’S FRUIT.

Just the other day I had a friend text me and tell me they had a guy for me to meet. My first question in response was obviously, “okay, is he a Christian?”
No longer does it matter to me about how much money he makes, his status, job position, or how big his muscles are. All those things are really great and nice, BUT if he doesn’t have a personal and real relationship with Christ, he honestly has nothing to offer me. This may sound harsh to some. Don’t get me wrong I love meeting new people and I am more than willing to show Christ off to anyone and everyone. However, this person is trying to set me up with someone so obviously I am going to see if he loves the Lord. Being unequally yoked in a relationship is not Biblical. I am not going to date just to date. We aren’t 16 anymore. I think their comes a time in everyone’s life…… actually let me re-phrase that, there should come a time in everyone’s life when you sit down and set standards and begin to think about marriage and spending the rest of your life with a significant other. You stop wanting to go out with randoms and you want to date with intentions of getting married, finding someone to run alongside of you, raise a family with you, and be your biggest fan. One of the most important things I look for is a relationship with Christ.
A tree is known by it’s fruits. And how would I expect a man to be able to lead, love, and help me when he doesn’t have a close and real relationship with the One who invented them?
It is hard enough walking the straight and narrow alone. I don’t need some wanna be Christian man who doesn’t really know Christ coming alongside of me bringing me down. Just sayin’
I need a man of God who removes himself from tempting situations, makes me go to church on Sundays even when I am tired and don’t feel like getting up, reads the Bible with me and discusses in detail each passage, prays with me and seeks Christ’ and loves Him more than me. He is way more interested in pushing me to Christ than pushing me in his bed. He treats me like a queen and loves me like Christ loves the church.
So, the answer is YES I am picky and YES my standards are high. But, I’d much rather have high standards than none at all. The man God has picked out just for me will MEASURE UP and I refuse to settle for anything less than the best.
John 15
“For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
verse 8:
“When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”
