Theo’s 2nd Birthday Party!
We celebrated our wild man turning two last weekend and I can’t believe it! His party was an absolute blast and I wanted to share a little bit with you guys here. We had it outside in our neighborhood at this perfect little gazebo. It was a big open area, big enough for kiddos to run free and parents to gather and chat and sip coffee. We had lots of fun outdoor activities like chalk, bubbles, and balls. We stuck to a brunch spread and did chicken and waffles, donuts, fruit, coffee, water, and juice boxes. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food and it was overall a really good day.
We chose to go with donuts instead of a cake this year. Since Theo has a dairy allergy, we knew we had to get some “healthy donuts,” or at least find some that he could devour. After eating a delicious vegan muffin at our local Clean Juice, we discovered Bravo Bakery. I chatted with the bakery owner, Marissa, and went ahead and ordered a dozen donuts for the party. She is seriously the sweetest and makes the BEST vegan donuts. The flavors we chose were: double chocolate, apple cider, maple strawberry, pumpkin salted caramel, and pumpkin espresso…is your mouth watering yet? They were so, so good! And not to mention I sent her a picture of a cute bear donut I had stumbled across and she recreated it perfectly! She also delivered them and seriously did the best job! We also got another dozen and a half from Duck Donuts, which are super good and full of all the good stuff, that Theo can’t have.
We didn’t go all out with decorations this year because his first birthday party was crazy and we literally planned it for six months. We ordered most of the decorations from Shop Sweet LuLu.. They have a ton of cute decor. We also got the huge “2” balloon from Amazon and the “TWO” balloons from Etsy. The custom pom pom banner that hung on the gift/party favor table we got from a super cute shop on Etsy called stephlovesben. I love how it turned out and now have it hanging on Theo’s teepee in our living room.
For the party favors this year, I made homemade play dough infused with essential oils. There were four options, “Calm,” infused with Peace and Calming essential oil, “Fresh,” infused with Citrus Fresh essential oil, “Happy,” infused with Joy essential oil, and “Chill,” infused with Lavender essential oil. The recipe was super easy and I had pretty much all of the ingredients in my kitchen. Plus the recipe is 100% safe and made with all natural ingredients.
ESSENTIAL OIL INFUSED PLAY DOUGH:
INGREDIENTS:
– 2 cups flour
– 1 cup salt
– 1 tablespoon fractionated coconut oil
– 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
– 2 cups cold water
– Peace & Calming, Citrus Fresh, Joy, and Lavender essential oil (10-15 drops)
– Natural Food Coloring
DIRECTIONS:
Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar, fractionated coconut oil, and water into a nonstick skillet. Stir over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes or until the dough is not runny. Once cooked through, let cool. Place dough on parchment paper to knead food coloring and essential oils into the dough so you don’t mix color and oils on your counter. I used Watkins Natural Food Coloring, it contains no artificial dyes, and is made with 100% natural vegetable juices and spices. Don’t forget to store in an airtight container to allow the dough to last longer. This was a huge hit for party favors. Everyone loved the play dough, even the parents! Some even said it smelled good enough to eat. If you are wanting to learn more about essential oils simply message me here, and I’d be glad to chat with you.
Theo’s 2nd birthday was a lot of fun! We had the best day with our friends and family and Theo partied hard, it actually took him a couple days to recoup. We are so very thankful for another year with our sweet boy, and can’t wait to see what the Lord has planned for his future. Thanks again to everyone who celebrated with us and took the time to wish our little bear a happy birthday.
