Homemade Apple Cider + Fig Pop Tarts!
I wanted to share this yummy + super easy homemade pop tart recipe with you guys today! I whipped these up while the boys were napping and think they turned out pretty good for being my first time making them!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 package rolled pie crust (I used a 2 ct. 7.5 oz pack, you could also make your own
- Jam of your choice (I used Trader Joe’s Apple Cider and Fig Jams)
FROSTING:
- 1 cup powder sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons almond milk (or cream/milk of your choice)
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F
- Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet and unroll crust onto another sheet of parchment. Use an index card as your guide, and cut 3×5 rectangles in the crust. With the remaining pie crust, knead together and then roll out into another large, thin piece and cut the remaining rectangles.
- In a small dish, beat the egg for your egg wash. Lay out your rectangles on the parchment paper. Add about 1 tablespoon of jam. Brush the edges with your egg wash and then place another rectangle on top of the rectangle with the jam. Pinch the edges together and then use a fork to crimp the edges. Poke holes in the top of the pop tart with a fork and then brush all over with the egg wash.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and place on cooling rack.
- Mix together icing ingredients and spread over each pop tart. Add cinnamon, sprinkles, freeze dried berries, graham cracker crumbs, cookie crumbles, or just eat them as is!
I hope you guys enjoy these yummy, little treats and have a good weekend!
