Top 10 Christmas Hosting Tips!
There’s nothing more inviting than a warm + cozy home! I always try to make our home as welcoming as possible when we have guests over. So, I’ve compiled a list of some of my top hostess tips to help give you some ideas of what to do to prepare for all your friends + family this holiday season and beyond!
1. Welcome Baskets. I LOVE putting together custom welcome goodies for each of my guests. I know what they love, so I’ll try and grab their favorite candy or snack. I normally put water bottles, a handwritten card, and then something special like comfy slippers, bath bombs, or something I know that they’ll love. I always customize it to the guests.
2. Thieves Cleaner. Cleaning up first? Grab your Thieves household cleaner and start wiping down all the things. Safe, effective, cost friendly, and it smells like Christmas!
3. Room Spray. I love having a sleepy spray on the bedside table. This blend is one of my favorite’s to whip up and put in the guest room:
Sweet Dreams room spray
In a 2 oz glass spray bottle combine:
- Distilled water
- A splash of unscented alcohol free Witch Hazel or pinch of epsom salt
- 10 drops Cedarwood essential oil
- 10 drops Lavender essential oil
- 10 drops Orange essential oil
4. Fresh flowers. I love having fresh flowers all throughout the house, especially if I am hosting. Adding a small bouquet in the guest room adds a sweet touch. My go-to for flowers is Trader Joes; a beautiful bouquet of roses + eucalyptus is my fave.
5. Twinkle lights + battery operated candles. I love, love, love having twinkle lights + candles (the non-toxic kind of course) around my home. It just makes the setting so intimate and screams: grab a blanket, curl up on the couch, and get comfy!
6. Christmas Spirit Hand Soap. Swap toxic hand soaps with Christmas Spirit foaming hand soap! I currently have these at all of my sinks! I think the Christmas Spirit soap smells SO festive + it looks so perfect for the holiday.
7. Diffusing. We swapped out candles for pure essential oils + diffusers, read more about why we did that here. My diffusers are constantly running making our home smell amazing + doing so much more. Everytime we have people over, they ALWAYS compliment how amazing our home smells. Some great blends to have going when your guests arrive…
Sugar Cookie: Thieves + Lemon
Winter Wonderland: Christmas Spirit + Citrus Fresh
Christmas Cider: Orange + Nutmeg + Cinnamon Bark
Peppermint Patty: Peppermint + Stress Away
All is Calm: Lavender + Peace and Calming
8. Soft Music. I love having soft, Christmas music playing basically all day. It’s calming and peaceful for me, and when my guests come over it just sets the atmosphere in the room. Christmas or not, I always have worship music playing in the house!
9. Take Home Goodies. Sugar scrubs are my favorite and the easiest to whip up and send home with your guests. Grab turbinado sugar, fractionated coconut oil, and your favorite oil blends. I love Orange + Stress Away. Mix 1 cup of sugar with ½ cup fractionated coconut oil, 10 drops Orange and 10 drops Stress Away. Mix in little mason jars until a sandlike consistency and wrap some cute twine around the lid- easy peasy!
10. Yummy Treats. When guests arrive, I like to have some yummy treats out and ready for them. Nothing says WELCOME like fresh baked goodies out of the oven! My banana bread is always a big hit, but if i don’t have time to bake, I just order goodies from one of my favorites: Bravo Bakery! I ordered some treats for the holidays: Peppermint, Creme Brûlée, Sugar Cookie, and Chocolate Snickerdoodle macarons and Chocolate Snickerdoodle Sandwich cookies! SO GOOD.
These hosting tips aren’t just for Christmas, you can use them anytime. What are some of your favorite hosting tips? I hope you have the sweetest holiday season with your family + loved ones!

Love this Brittney! I like to leave fresh towels on my overnight-guests’ beds and a candy dish set out in the kitchen or living room, and make them cappuccinos and a big breakfast 🍳 ☕️
